Brooks Lake Wyoming | Time For Fly Fishing!

Just last week, Brooks Lake Wyoming (close to Dubois, WY) finally opened up.

In fact, it was Friday that the ice could be seen dissipating so much so that by that evening – the ice was gone.

With the ice off and the road opened up – we have had several fly fishing enthusiasts tell us that they have done quite well at Brooks Lake Wyoming.

“Hey this is Kade – I just came to your fly shop a day or two ago and I bought some flies that you told me to use up at Brooks Lake or the river … and I hooked two!”

One young man named Kade, came in to Marlow’s Fly Shop – bought some fly fishing gear and a few flies and hooked up with some Rainbow Trout.

A Brooks Lake Ranibow Trout. Kade caught this on a bugger

Nice Fishy Kade! Congratulations!

He sent us this Brooks Lake Wyoming picture which you can see here.

In this photo, Kade shows us one of the Rainbow Trout he caught up at Brooks Lake.

Great job Kade and thank you so much for sending this in! You Rock!

Turned out it was one of the wooly buggers that helped him catch two trout. Sweet!

Brooks Lake Wyoming is an incredibly beautiful place.

With the Pinnacles jutting up into the Wyoming skies and the lake in the foreground, it is no wonder why people stop to admire and take lots of pictures.

In addition to fly fishing opportunities in the lake and the Brooks Creek outlet of the lake, there are campsites should you wish to stay overnight.

The Brooks Lake Campground is designated as a 1st come 1st served set up and has a 16 day camping limit.

With all the water and snow pack we had this year, fly fishing in and around the Dubois streams and rivers has been near impossible.

So when the ice came off Brooks Lake Wyoming – and the outlet opened up

– we were thrilled!
